Song Inspiration
Unresolved
The inspiration for this song came from an all too common experience, shared by many, where in the affairs of the heart, one is in it to win it forever and the other is in it to win it…for now. Red flags all over the place and protective friends watching your back and telling you to wake up…doesn’t matter. You hang on until the bitter end when ‘for now’ becomes today and you’re left behind, mad at yourself and feeling like a fool, unable to resolve your feelings. But what would you do if that person came back? Hmmm
Dear Emma
Dedicated to the memory of 1st Lt. Todd William Weaver (October 22, 1983-September 9, 2010), his wife Emma and their daughter Kiley, and to all the brave men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces, and their families, who serve and have served so bravely and unselfishly for the freedom and protection of this great country and her beautifully diverse people. Thank you
Fight To No End
Dedicated to those who have suffered the terrible effects of domestic abuse, either physical or mental, and one of the most heinous acts of cowardice, bullying. Please reach out for support because we love you and want to help. You are not alone!
Broken Heart Carpenter
This song is a story of two people growing old together and eventually coming full circle with their fears and anxieties. In the beginning of their life together one person is more secure in the relationship than the other, who fears that it will somehow all end. But over the years, the tables turn, and the security that the first experienced in the early days turns into the same anxieties and fears that their partner had. The glue that keeps them together is their ability to console and reassure each other that they are the carpenters for each other’s heart. Ahh, love.
Kerosene Heater
I wrote this song during the wind storm that happened in Spokane, Washington on November 17, 2015. It was a terrible storm that uprooted trees, damaged power lines, destroyed homes and left most people without power for at least a week. I wrote it as a pretty ballad because I wanted to soften the ferocity of the storm with the sweetness and calm of the song. Anyway, the song describes what was going on in our house during those days, with just a kerosene heater keeping us warm.
